Clayton
was one of the earliest miners to settle near Coyote Bluff. He made a sizeable fortune, but wasted most
of it buying another claim from Gerald “Mac” McIntyre, the now
deceased husband of Molly McIntyre.
That claim and the one he originally owned fizzled out long ago. He started drinking heavily when he got
news that his whole family had died of exposure while in route to California a couple of years ago. Now he can be found most nights either at
the bar in the Golden Spur or sleeping it off on the porch of one of the few
buildings on main street.
